Jesus Told Us To Make Disciples

Updated: Feb 27, 2021

I really enjoyed our last Bible study. We read Matthew 28 and saw that the Lord Jesus has risen! Jesus then said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…” This particular verse stood out to me because I’m thankful that Jesus told us what to do. We don’t need to search for how to glorify Him. We don’t need math, papers, or science to figure out how to make Him happy. He told us! We just need to obey Him and go make disciples. They could be our friends, our family, or someone we just got to know.

I feel like He made His message very effective because He also gave us an example of how to make disciples. His life on earth was an example to us! Jesus spent His whole life serving, healing, and helping other people. His message to us was spoken after His crucifixion so that we would know that when we go out to make disciples He is with us. Understanding His final command, now we just have to go do it.

I also think making disciples is different than just preaching the gospel. Discipleship needs more commitment and time. You can preach and it’d be up to the listeners whether they choose to believe or not. However, making disciples would include embracing the person and building a spiritual connection. You really want the person that you are making a disciple to know God and experience God. May we be those who go and make disciples of all the nations!
