Words from the Spirit and The Common Faith

Updated: Apr 9, 2021

I think it’s pretty cool how the Lord gives us the Spirit in times of need. Sometimes in a conversation I may not be sure how to speak. But the Lord fills us with the Holy Spirit and gives us words to speak forth. I also enjoy the emphasis on prayer in Acts 1. I sincerely appreciate how the Holy Spirit comes upon us in our service to the Lord.

I learned so much from week two of the Acts Bible study. We saw how there are eight important items of the common faith, and that each part is just as important as the others. We MUST contend for these items because they are the foundation of our faith. If we do not contend, then where is our faith? Jude 3 says, “Beloved, while using all diligence to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you and exhort you to earnestly contend for the faith once for all delivered to the saints.” We must exhort each other to spread the name of Jesus! When sharing the gospel, these eight items can be a great starting point to share what we believe in. If someone asks you what being a Christian is all about, tell them about the Bible. Tell them about the Triune God. Tell them about how God incarnated as a man. Tell them how Jesus died on the cross, resurrected, and ascended. Tell them to repent and be saved. And tell them that God is coming back again.
