What am I falling in love with?
As human beings, we are creatures of love. We pursue it, give it, seek it out. But this can lead us down dangerous paths of what we fall in love with.
We have to step back and ask ourselves, “Am I falling in love with the things of this world?”
“Am I falling in love with…
The moments of fun and false fulfillment?
The satisfaction of temporal things?
The laughter about things the Lord would never want me to laugh at?
Doing great and excelling academically?”
We must reflect:
What is it that I’m chasing? What am I pursuing? Is it God? Or is it just things that I, MYSELF, deem that are ok according to God? Really ask Him to reevaluate your motivations, actions, and pleasures, and if these things align with what He wills for us and what He approves. God should not be molded into or sprinkled on top of the activities of our life. Everything that we do should come from the inspiration of “This is what God wants for me”, not “This is what I want to do and I’m going to find a way to describe it so that it seems like God is ok with it as well”.
What we do should be tested by God—we must bring it to Him, and if it doesn’t fit into the mold curated by God, then it’s not from Him or for Him. It’s idle. Vain. Don’t sprinkle God over things. Bring it all to God and let Him show you what to do and decide if it’s for you.
He is the life-giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45b). In Him and Him only is life. In nothing else, no one else, no occupation, no reward, no person will be able to source you with life. Only God. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).
He not only gives life, HE IS life.
Fall in love with Jesus Christ.
