God Runs to Meet Us!

Updated: Feb 27, 2021

This past Saturday, I really enjoyed attending the semesterly college conference! This year, we went to UC Davis and learned about God’s heart of love for man. My top highlights included the singing times, where I learned a new song, “Before the throne of God”, and also the meal times where the cafeteria food was significantly better than Berkeley’s. However, my greatest enjoyment from the conference was concerning the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15. In that parable, the prodigal son squandered his father’s wealth, and when he “came to himself”, he thought of a long speech to apologize to his father and made the decision to go back to him. However, as the son went back, Luke 15:20 says that “while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion, and he ran and fell on his neck, kissing him affectionately.” From this parable, we can see our Father God’s great love for us. Although on our side we need a small turning of heart, as soon as we begin to return to Him, He RUNS out to meet us, and clothes us and feeds us with His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. What a love our God has for us! My prayer this week was that I would continually turn my heart throughout the day, and return to the presence of my God daily, and even situation by situation.
