We have the Promise of God Himself!
The second message, "The Saving Love of the Triune God", used the parable of the prodigal son to depict both our human condition and the salvation experienced by receiving Christ. The speaking covered God's plan: to share His eternal life with His many sons to be, filling us with this life that we might express Him. In the parable of the prodigal son, the father receives his son with joy and open arms, though the son had previously left the provisions of his loving father for an unclean living. What an amazing picture! This is a depiction of how even those dead in sin can turn back to God and receive His mercy and love. Two aspects of Jesus Christ were discussed in the context of the human condition of being both lost and unable to fulfill the law alone: Jesus is a shepherd looking for all lost sheep, even the one out of a hundred (Luke 15:4-6), and Jesus died for our sins so that we in ourselves need not fulfill the law (Eph. 2:1, 4-5). According to Ephesians 1:13-14, "you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of the promise, Who is the pledge of our inheritance unto the redemption of the acquired possession, to the praise of His glory.” What a provision! We have a promise of God Himself, and we need no other source!
