Christ, the Wisdom of God

This past week in the Bible studies, we finished the rest of 1 Corinthians (vv. 10-31). Our group enjoyed that there is the wisdom of God that contrasts with the wisdom of man. According to our natural thought, being wise is associated with being successful, perhaps inventing a life-changing gadget or discovering a ground-breaking theory. When I consider people whom I view as wise, I think of ancient philosophers or successful businessmen. However, in verse 27, Paul says that “God has chosen the foolish things of the world that He might shame those who are wise…”, and in verse 23-24 that the crucified Christ is the power and the wisdom of God. The wisest person in the world may accomplish a lot of things in his lifetime, but a “foolish” person who sees and believes into the crucified Christ and all that He has accomplished on the cross gains something eternal in his lifetime. How wonderful! Christ is the wisdom of God, the plan by which He is able to save us, and the power of God, the One saving us from all our problems and negative aspects.
